"Supporting the biodiversity of the Hoz de Beteta, an area of huge ecological significance, is important in order to guarantee its long-term conservation"

For both Mahou San Miguel and for WWF, environmental conservation is a fundamental goal. The Solán de Cabras spring is located in Beteta, in the Serranía de Cuenca uplands. The area, included within the Natura 2000 network, is an environment of huge ecological value, where the River Guadiela has shaped spectacular escarpments and gullies.

Improving the biodiversity surrounding the spring and the Solán de Cabras bottling facility is of vital importance to us, which is why the company has signed a strategic agreement for the protection of natural environments with WWF, an organization that has been working in the field of nature conservation for more than 50 years.

Meanwhile, in order to offset the threat of large-scale fires, preventive clearance work has been conducted to reduce the vulnerability of the area. Clearance work has been performed on six hectares in the Camino de la Cruz area, with the aim of creating an open and irregular wooded area, less vulnerable to forest fires.

"Beteta and Puente de Vadillos are towns of huge importance for our company, as they are home to our Solán de Cabras spring, and we aim to make an active contribution to their protection and sustainable development"
