Learn to choose the nutrients to add a healthy diet to your life. Healthy eating is in style.
Every time we open our mouths to eat is an opportunity to eat well. It is important to know that carbohydrates, fat and protein are the basis of a healthy and balanced diet. But where do we begin?
Carbohydrates: the best thing is to get them from whole grains, legumes, fruit and fresh vegetables, which have vitamins and fibre. Refined cereals often tend to contain a lot of sugar and very little nutritional value.
Fats: the non-saturated kind are healthier. Those that come from vegetable sources and which are liquid at room temperature. In any event, they should not surpass 30% of the calories consumed.
Protein: in order to avoid the large amount of saturated fats found in animal protein, we can consume protein from vegetables, such as nuts and legumes. Among those that are animal by products, the healthiest are fish and dairy.
The fourth element? Our conscience! If we know how to choose the right foods to follow a balanced diet, without forgetting fibre, vitamins, minerals, and drinking a lot of water, our body will thank us every day.
